Q: How does the system work?
  • Your members will swipe a bar-coded keytag at the door. Your software system will determine if the membership is valid and if they are, they will be allowed access. If the person’s membership is not valid, the member will be denied access and will have to return during staffed hours to purchase or renew their membership.
Q: Do I have to allow 24 hour access to my fitness center?
  • No. Many club owners use our systems to provide member access during slower times of the day, on weekends, or on holidays. You are in control of when you want to let members enter your facility.
Q: What if I already have fitness management software?
  • Our system is compatible with many software providers. If your software vendor supports turnstile control, it will most likely support our system. Call us with the name of your software product and we will let you know if it is compatible.
Q: Will I be able to get insurance with this system?
  • Yes. Our system has been approved by several insurance underwriters. Once we receive your deposit on a system, we will put you in touch with several agencies that provide coverage for 24/7 clubs.
Q: Am I required to use a surveillance system?
  • No; however it may be more difficult for you to find insurance coverage for your business if you do not install a surveillance system.
Q: What happens if a member lets someone else into the club?
  • We sell a tailgate detection system that will detect this condition. You can have the tailgate detection system do any number of things if it detects an authorized entry – such as cue your surveillance system to record, sound an alarm, or have you notified on a cell phone.
Q: Does Spectrum sell security systems?
  • No. Security systems and surveillance systems are two separate systems. Although we do sell surveillance systems, we do not sell security systems at this time. We can help you find a licensed local security installer to work with you on this part of your project.
Q: Can more than 1 door be controlled?
  • Yes. You can control any number of doors – however; you will need a networked computer at each door you wish to control.
Q: What if I already own a computer but I don’t have fitness management software?
  • Although we strongly recommend purchasing a custom built computer from us, we can assist you in using your own computer for running your 24/7 system. We will guide you through the steps needed to make sure that you have a reliable running system.
